Chase Butala a therapist with folded arms

Built in the Trenches, Refined by Science

I’m Chase Butala, LPC, LCPC.

I’m not just a clinician with an advanced degree; I am a man who has navigated the wilderness of his own life and come out the other side with a map.

This map, my approach to therapy and coaching, wasn't just born in a classroom—it was forged through the fire of real-life adversity including divorce & relationship loss, complexities of parenting, personal connections to addiction, and the heavy lifting of breaking generational trauma. I know what it feels like to be in the deep end because I’ve spent time there. Most therapists tell you they understand what you’re going through because they read about it in a textbook. I’m not most therapists.

I didn't just survive those seasons; I used them as a forge to build a better version of myself. Now,

I help high performers, couples, and parents do the same.

  • I’ve spent over 20 years in the mental health field, cutting my teeth in the most demanding environments imaginable. My career has been defined by working within the toughest systems, including:

    • Inpatient Acute Units & Psychiatric Residential Treatment: Improved clinical outcomes with the challenging mental health, damaged family systems, and strained relationship dynamics

    • The Maryland Prison System: Navigating high-stakes crises, with individuals with a serious mental illness, where split-second decisions matter.

    • Clinical Leadership: As the founder of Undefeated Healthcare, I built a clinic dedicated to a strength-based approach that empowers individuals rather than just labeling them.

  • I am self-built. I worked my way up the chain, attending school while holding down the toughest jobs in the industry. This "grind" mentality led to numerous promotions and leadership opportunities where I’ve delivered high-level results:

    • System Innovation: I’ve built system-wide behavior modification programs and assisted in the development of inpatient acute units from the ground up.

    • Clinical Excellence: I successfully built clinical processes that promoted high usage and streamlined care.

    • Transformational Impact: As a clinician, I’ve helped countless families improve the quality and functionality of their homes despite extreme logistical challenges. I’ve guided couples through major trust breaks and the repair work necessary to build new, stronger foundations.

  • I believe in a "boots on the ground" approach to mental health. Life is demanding, and your therapy should be, too. My style is direct, assertive, and driven by structure. We aren't here to just talk in circles; we are here to identify your blind spots and manage them with radical acceptance and a healthy dose of humor.

I work best with those who are ready to do the work:

    • Men & High Performers: Building "Alpha" personality traits while developing the emotional intelligence and empathy needed to lead effectively.

    • Couples in Conflict: Navigating relationship struggles through intentionality and firm boundaries.

    • Parents Looking to Level Up: Providing the clarity and strength needed to improve the capacity needed to manage complex relational dynamics.
